Watchtower was a false religious symbol?...
by Tuesday ini want to say i saw this on youtube before, but i wasn't positive and couldn't find it again.
can anyone here refresh my memory as to what false religion the watchtower was a symbol for and what the symbol meant in that religion.. thank you everyone!.

by Albert Einstein ini just love it.. situation one: we went with a group of friends from my cong for an outdoor trip in my car ... i was driving, several friends in the car, including young but zealous (wish to be an elder...) pioneer sister ... we listen to a queen, since i am a big fan .... albert: this freddie mercury really was a great singer...... sister: oh yes, he is good .... albert: he is really great, i believe one day, maybe in the next century, kids will have to learn about him at school, he will be just next to mozart!.

Wasnt Jesus provoking overrighteous jews of his time?
When he cured the guy at Bethzatha (John 5) on sabbath, he told him "pick up your cot and walk" ... He knew exactly, this will provoke discussion with pharisees, which exactly happen ... Jesus was very good at provoking ....
So thats why I will not apologize for my topic. But at least I can apologize for not apologizing for may topic.... OK?

As a JW Did other Witnesses Annoy you by Condemning " Worldly Music" ?
by flipper ini know i got bothered by all the self righteous music police who would condemn me or others for our awesome record collections from early years as a teenager .
several experiences were really quite odd .
one brother came up to me saying i was wrong to listen to the moody blues " nights in white satin "!

Oh Flipper, what a subject!
1) At a District convention it was said in my country (1992): "A young brother decided before his baptism to destroy his complete collection of Beatles records, after learning their songs were composed under drug influnece and thus under influence of demons. Isnt that a fine example for us dear brothers and sisters....???" Aplaudisment...
2) When Michael Jackson was having a concert in my country, my friend a zealous pioneer MS brother called me from Germany "Imagine, Helmut from our hall goes to se MJs concert to your town ... (Me: Whats the point???) Well, isnt MJ disfellowsiped ??.... (Me: I dont know, it was never announced...) Well, anyways, I announced that Helmut goes to see MJ to the elders, its my duty... They will deal with that!
((So I just hope, Helmut didnt speak to MJ and didnt have a meal with MJ at the concert, that would get him in troubles...))
3) Of course Queen shouldnt be listened to, since they are gays, heard so many times since I am a big fan of them ...
4) Elders talk in my hall: "Brothers, we are cautious about modern music the young ones listen to... but we must be concerned about satans influence in any music ... For example, do you thing it is proper for a christian to listen to "Ave Maria" from Johan Sebastian Bach? Of course not! It promotes false religion! (Iam not making this up!!!)

wife: ???? well ... they preach the truth...
Albert: OK, I will help you - you should say "It is because they were chosen by JC in 1919"
wife: Yes, you are right, thats the reason!
Albert: OK, so what they were teaching when they were supposedly chosen? Lets discuss that....
wife: well, we will discuss it later, now our son is listening...
SO GUYS, WHAT DID WTBS TEACH WHEN THEY WERE SUPPOSEDLY CHOSEN... AND TODAY COULD BE A REASON FOR DF:

No political neutralïty necessary
Its OK to worship Jesus

No regular preaching by all memebrs

WHAT WAS YOUR AHA! MOMENT THATIT WAS TIME TO EXIT THE BORG?
by freewilly01 ini had a huge light bulb on moment as i wasy in therapy dealing with a nasty anxiety disorder for many years and having a huge trigger in my life finally silenced.
it was almost the last thing that i thought i would end up doing expecially if you asked my wife and myself even a year before our decision to " live " thats how i view it not decision to leave...........it was a decision to live.. .
my therapist psychiatrist asked me who are you?

Several years ago, there was a JW calendar with pictures of JW history ... on one page there was Rutherford and witnesses with sandwich boards saying in english: "MILLIONS NOW LIVING WILL NEVER DIE!" text to the picture translated into my language was: "Zealous brothers are advertising the lecture of J.R. MILLIONS NOW LIVING MIGHT NOT DIE" ... I felt terribly, this was not mistranslation, it was clear LIE!!!! since in my country most JWs dont speak good english, nobody was bothered ...
I found courage to ask a brother i knew in local Bethel in service dept.... He just turned red and said: Maybe its a mistake.... I said: No way, you cannot make such mistake the meaning is completely different!!! He just ran away....
It was a proof to me they just lie if they want and nobody cares... It was beginning of my fade...

Where did these unoffical beliefs/standards come from?
by highdose ini've been doing some reasoning about all the jw teachings i've been taught as i grew up.
one of them was the belief that if you were baptised young that it would be a protection for you.
i questioned this at the time as i thought that instead it would make you prey to opposition from satan at a young age.

Highdose, thats not a belief, its just a trick to get kids involved in this destructive cult when they are powerless to question such decision. If JWs were not baptizing kids, 90% of them would not join as adults.
